Technology Services

The UO Libraries offer a variety of support services to faculty, students, and staff. Electronic classrooms, audio visual equipment circulation and media production facilities are just a few of the services provided. Blackboard

A service of the UO Libraries, the Blackboard course management system is an easy-to-use web-based tool for hosting syllabi, assignments, grades, discussion tools, and more. Your UO e-mail username and password is required for access.

Classroom Technology Support

The Classroom Technology Group in the Center for Media and Educational Technologies (CMET)  provides classroom design, training, and equipment distribution services to support the university's instructional programs.

Electronic Classrooms

There are several wired and wireless classrooms located in the Knight Library. All of them offer computers for student and faculty use, as well as a variety of media and projection equipment.

Equipment Checkout

Current UO students can borrow laptop computers, digital cameras, camcorders, and other media equipment from the Learning Commons and Media Services.

The Media Services Department loans a variety of equipment to support instruction in university CRN classes.

Geographic Information Systems (GIS)

The GIS Laboratory in the Document Center (135 Knight Library) provides access to ArcMap/ArcGIS and a variety of datasets, available for download. ArcMap/ArcGIS is also available for use in both the Knight and Science ITCs.

Image Services

The Image Services Center offers a number of high quality, fee based photographic and document imaging services including slide scanning, digital printing, copy stand photography, freelance photography, traditional darkroom printing and 35mm microfilm production.

Information Technology Centers (ITC)

Located in the Knight and Science Libraries, the Information Technology Centers (ITCs) are learning laboratories providing access to networked Windows, and Macintosh workstations equipped with word processing, spreadsheet, graphic production tools, and more. They also provide students assistance with Blackboard courseware.

Learning Commons

Conveniently located on the main floor of Knight Library, the Learning Commons promotes interactivity, exploration, discovery and community with a blend of expert research assistance, tutoring, advising, and technology. Off-Campus Access to Electronic Resources

Current UO students, faculty, and staff can connect to electronic resources from off-campus. In order to do so, you will need to authenticate yourself by following the directions on the Off-Campus Access page.

Scholarly Communications and Instructional Support

The Scholarly Communications and Instructional Support is the Library's primary service point for faculty who need assistance with the use of instructional technology outside the classroom. Its mission is to promote active learning through innovative use of technology.

Video Production

The Center for Media and Educational Technologies offers a comprehensive range of professional television and video production services to the university community, state agencies, and non-profit organizations.

Wireless (and Wired) Access

Both wired and wireless access areas are available at the UO Libraries. Wireless access is available in most public areas in the AAA, Knight, Law, Math, and Science libraries.
