Services for Faculty

See our full list of UO Libraries services to faculty.

There are some differences in faculty services at the Portland library, as outlined below.

Research methods classes

Research methods classes can be arranged with Karen Munro at 503-412-3673 (2-3673 from a campus phone.) In most cases, Karen can visit your classroom during a regular class session to teach directly to your students' needs.

Classroom technology

We support classroom technology in the White Stag Block. When booking your classroom with pdxinfo@uoregon.edu, please indicate your technology needs. Examples of classroom technology include presentation laptop, data projector, laser pointer, connectors and cables, slide projectors, document camera, cart of laptops, etc.

If your class is in session and you need technology support, call 503-412-3750 (2-3750 from a campus phone) for assistance.

If your UO-Portland classroom has a control system for technology, press the Help button and a message will be sent to technology staff.

Classroom videoconferencing

We support classroom videoconferencing (multi-site instruction, recording classes, etc.)  When booking your classroom with pdxinfo@uoregon.edu, please indicate that you require a videoconference unit.

For more information about how to set up a videoconference, see our videoconferencing support page.

Booking movies for classroom use

Portland-based faculty and instructors who wish to book movies for classroom use should NOT use the "Book this item" link in the online library catalog.

Instead, please use the booking form for Distance Education faculty. Items from the Video Collection will be mailed to you one week in advance of your expected use (pickup day/time) and will be due in the Library one week later. Please indicate in the Comments field that you are teaching in Portland.

Image scanning for presentations

The Portland Library & Learning Commons has flatbed and slide scanners for creating digital image files available for use of our student and faculty patrons. Through a partnership with the Image Services Center in Knight Library in Eugene, we can assist faculty by digitizing up to 200 images per instructor per term for CRN-related projects for free.  For more information, visit the scanning resources page.

Wide-format printing and scanning

Portland-based faculty can use all services of the Output Room, located on the 5th floor of White Stag. The Output Room offers large-format printing and scanning, and accepts Campus Cash for payment.
