Working with an archivist at a repository that will collect your research data and provide access to it is a great way to ensure the sustainability of the research data.
Archivist on Board
- Many suggest having an archivist on board early in the research process so that data is created and managed in a way that provides clear and long-term access. If the data does not have enduring value, the archivist can help ensure that the data is securely disposed of after its retention period has been met.
- See Humphrey, et al. "Archivist on Board: Contributions to the Research Team." In Forum: Qualitative Social Research 1(3) for more information.
Finding the Right Repository
- The list of repositories you used to locate relevant existing data can be used to identify a repository that will preserve and provide access to your research data.
